Hey there!
I'd like to first apologize with my negligence in updating this blog. I promise that things are still being planned and getting done, but here's to a new commitment to letting the public know about them!
So. What's going down this spring?
-A screening of the Water First film at the Philmont Public Library at 6:30 on Sunday, April 15
-A bake sale at the first CSA pickup of the Farm at Miller's Crossing
-A concert for this spring is currently in the works! The lovely Red Lions from Albany and also Melonious Thunk from Troy have expressed interest, and I'm meeting with different local venues to discuss an awesome benefit event
-I've been working with my youth group at Grace Fellowship Church in Latham to discuss fundraising ideas and plans. We are in discussions of repairing a well for $2,000!
-I plan on continuing to visit local elementary schools to let the students know about this project and global issues as a whole.
Happy Spring! or shall I say summer?
Best,
Hannah

A long-overdue update...
Hi all!
I've been very negligent about updating this blog, but I promise that I've not neglected the water project as a whole. Here's a quick run-down on what we've been up to since the last post..
-The Yassou Benedict concert was a success! Quite a few people showed up and we made over $450. Immense thanks to Judy Grunberg and the team at PS-21 for all of their help and support, and for everyone who showed up. Also, the (stunning) band has since both headed west and released an excellent music video. Check it out! Also, a HUGE thanks to the Hudson Rotary Club for the donation that made it all happen.
-I gave presentations to the participants of the Philmont Library's Summer Reading Program back in July. It was such fun! Both the younger and older groups provided great discussion and were engaged and curious. We talked about water issues in Malawi, the differences between life here and life in Africa, and what we can do to help. Thanks, Philmont Library, for making that happen!
-The fantastic Ghent Rotary Club donated $200 to the Malawi Water Project after watching my presentation, which was a very lovely surprise. They're an active and receptive group and it was a joy to speak to them.
-I am headed to the local elementary school tomorrow to speak with a third and fourth grade class about Malawi and water issues. I'm excited and can't wait to talk with the kids.
There have been some very exciting developments in the grander scheme of things too. First, we're well on our way to nonprofit certification!
Second, go ahead and like the Water First Facebook page. :)
Third, Freshwater Project Malawi recently supplied the Ndongo Birthing Center with clean water for the first time! The center serves 18 communities and a total population of 18,000. SO AWESOME. And believe it or not, this little project actually had something to do with it. The wife of the Malawian ambassador saw a link online to one of the webpages I'd created for an event and got in touch with Amy, and things started happening. YAY...
I'm currently trying to configure different ways to get the word out. Expect updates pretty soon about a winter concert, local screenings, and more school visitations.
I hope you are all well! As usual, please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments at hannahbloom94@yahoo.com. I'd love to hear!
Best,
Hannah

Yassou Benedict Concert
Hi everyone,
The aforementioned water concert is a go!
Yassou Benedict is performing on Sunday, July 3rd at 3:00 at PS21 in Chatham. Admission is $5 for all at the door (well, tents don't have doors, but...). This is a great local band- I'm really excited.
Hope to see you there! As always, feel free to contact me with questions.

Upcoming Events for the Water Project!
Hey everyone!
I just wanted to keep you all in the loop as to what I'm currently working on. (:
First, there was a lovely article on this project in the Chatham Courier a few weeks ago! Check it out if you can. I also presented before the Hudson Rotary Club and the lovely people there are donating part of the proceeds of their March 31 Fool's Run (on Warren Street- registration is $15 now or come early and pay $20 the day of- the running starts at 8) to the Water Project!
I'm figuring out a sock fundraiser/bake sale to take place next month, probably at St. James. Watch this space as I figure out details and post updates!
Also, the logistics of a June concert are being configured right now. Again, I'll post updates as soon as I know, but we have a tentative date and an AWESOME band.
Please feel free to email me (hannahbloom94@yahoo.com) with any questions or comments.
Thanks for your support!

Rotary Presentation
On Thursday, January 13, I gave a presentation about the Malawi Water Project to the Rotary Club in Ghent. The club was more than welcoming, and my father and I had a lovely lunch with the members.
Big thanks to Laurie Quinn for coordinating the event. I do hope to be back sometime soon!
P.S. I'm working on ways to get my powerpoint onto this blog... check for updates. (:
